The Board of Directors of Community Service of Newburyport, Inc. (CSN) are thrilled to welcome Raymond Pillidge, MSW, LICSW, as their new Executive Director, effective November 2, 2020. Ray will be the first Executive Director in the 108-year history of the organization, which was founded by local women in 1912 to support families in need in Newburyport. CSN provides economic assistance to individuals, families and children from Newbury, Newburyport and West Newbury. Ray comes to CSN from Boston University, where he is currently lecturing on social work. Ray boasts both an academic career developing future social workers (previously serving at Boston College) and a hands-on social work career, including many years with the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF), which included Newburyport in his catchment area. Ray’s mission is to help CSN create an expanded strategy for the future, growing local support programs, while partnering with existing agencies in the community to support our neighbors in need. Ray expressed his delight in joining the organization, saying “You can’t see it under my mask, but I’m smiling ear to ear” and following up with “I’m very happy to be joining a community based organization so committed to the wellbeing of the people that live here, with a Board of exemplary people who want to expand our impact through innovation and collaboration with others.”  Board President Kitty Pearson echoed Ray’s sentiments, saying “The entire Board of Directors is delighted to welcome Ray and looks forward to working with him as the presence of CSN expands in Newbury, Newburyport, and West Newbury”. Ray will be reaching out to local partner agencies to be part of the community-wide efforts to support those in need.  More information on Community Service of Newburyport, Inc. can be found at  www.communityserviceofnewburyport.com .
