Day in Amesbury
Located along the banks of the Merrimack River and the New Hampshire border, Amesbury is a innovative town with roots in carriage building and textile mills. Amesbury was once home to carriage factories, hat factories, and more. We love Amesbury for many reasons, including its quaint downtown area, rolling hills, and many scenic views. Here’s how we would spend a day in Amesbury!
Start your day in Amesbury with a warm cider donut and coffee from Cider Hill Farm! Their award-winning donuts are loved by locals and tourists from all over. While you’re there, check out their farm store and explore the 140 acre farm.
Spend the rest of the morning learning about the historical places in Amesbury. Consider visiting Lowell’s Boat Shop, the oldest operating boat shop in America, or the Whitter Home, where writer and abolitionist John Greenleaf Whittier once lived.
For lunch, stop by the Barking Dog Bar and Grill for a quick but delicious sandwich, burger, or wrap. Next, visit Gametime Lanes and Entertainment for a fun filled afternoon of bowling, arcade games, and axe throwing.
Spend the rest of your afternoon at BareWolf Brewing to enjoy craft beer in their fun and funky taproom and outdoor biergarten. They’re always pouring new brews, so make sure to check their website or call ahead for the most up to date beer list. For dinner, head to the Ale House to enjoy exceptional quality food and drinks. With options like braised beef short ribs and sweet potato haddock, their diverse menu has something for everyone! After dinner, walk up to the Blue Moon Kitchen and Bar to enjoy a creative cocktail or drink on their patio overlooking the Powwow River.
Check back next time as we spend a day in Salisbury showcasing our Salisbury members!
