Katy O’Connor Ives, elected to the Massachusetts Legislature in 2012 as State Senator for the first Essex District, represented Amesbury, Haverhill, Merrimac, Methuen, Newburyport, North Andover and Salisbury for three terms. In the State Senate, she served as the Co-Chair of the legislature’s Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development and Co-Chaired the Joint Committee on Community Development and Small Businesses. After retiring from the State Senate, Katy launched an e-commerce start-up and has served on the Advisory Committee for the C-10 Research and Education Foundation. As a Newburyport City Councillor at-Large, she chaired the License & Permits Committee and Public Utilities Committee. She attended Mount Holyoke College, graduating with a B.A. in International Relations and earned a J.D. from Pace University Law School. Katy resides in Newburyport with her husband and son and looks forward to a new adventure working with the Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
