Newburyport Choral Society to perform Mozart Requiem at “Harmony” Concert

8:00 p.m. May 5 and 4:00 p.m. May 6, Belleville Congregational Church, 300 High St. Newburyport.

The Newburyport Choral Society will be performing a grand and majestic program of Baroque and Classical period music, including 150 singers, 4 professional vocal soloists, a 17-piece orchestra, and Belleville’s historic Stevens pipe organ.  Entitled “Harmony,” the concert features an exciting newer version of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s beloved Requiem.  The chorus will also perform music of maverick 18th century Czech composer Jan Dismas Zelenka, known for his harmonic inventiveness and clever musical style.  Audiences can expect to hear a mixture of music from contemplative to powerful explosions of sound.
