Lisa Christine Summerville, the founder and CEO, of Newburyport-based “28 Carrots,” a women’s entrepreneurial group, will be the keynote speaker at Northern Essex Community College’s 4th Annual Networking Night on Thursday, May 17, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Hartleb Technology Center on the Haverhill campus, 100 Elliott Street.

This free event is open to all current NECC students and alumni, along with community business representatives. NECC’s Career Center and the Office of Alumni Relations are hosting the event. Registration is required. It can be completed online at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/neccs-4th-annual-networking-night-tickets-30491434702

Summerville, who is also chief revenue strategist of Bateau Ventures, calls herself a “global people connector who thrives on idea generation and playing with passion”. She has amassed an impressive business and personal network, having collaborated and created profitable partnerships as a consultant and through her career in the corporate world while working for American Airlines, SkyTel, AT&T, and IBM.

Networking Night provides Northern Essex students and alumni with the chance to learn about different career fields, and the value of networking and communication when it comes to job and internship interviews. Employers are encouraged to use the opportunity to look for potential interns or part-time or full-time employees and/or to help educate and mentor students on what they will need to prepare for a career in their field.

This event is for networking purposes only, so attendees should leave their resumes at home. Light refreshments will be served.

Professional photographer Jose Garcia, who launched the #FacesofNECC https://www.necc.mass.edu/discover/facesofnecc/ portraiture initiative at Northern Essex, will be available to take free professional portraits of participants for them to use on their social media business accounts.

NECC’s Career Center helps students and alumni work toward a future in their chosen field by helping them build resumes and cover letters, search for available jobs and volunteer opportunities, and get access to career information. The department also offers a variety of career workshops in conjunction with other college departments, as well as individual career advising, career-focused events and information sessions.
