How to Support Inclusive Local Economies
April 4, 2018 (9:30 am – 2 pm)
Lawrence, MA

Inclusive local economies create jobs and provide wealth-building opportunities for the different populations who live and work in the community. These types of economies are often better able to withstand market shifts and disruptions. There are critical ways in which municipalities, anchor institutions, and partners can help inclusive local economies take root and this workshop is an introduction to a few of these approaches.

Workshop themes include supporting minority small business owners, building a diverse leadership pool, and connecting new residents with existing cultural capital to preserve community identity by positioning it as an economic development asset.

This workshop is free of charge and co-sponsored by the American Planning Association Massachusetts Chapter (APA-MA). AICP CM credits will be available. CM I 2.75
