Summer in Newburyport Blog: Alternative Lunchtime Locales
Get out. That’s our advice to you!
You’ve all heard the slogan, ‘If you don’t like the weather in New England … just wait a minute.’ That is exactly why you should take every advantage to get outside during your lunch break. It’s amazing what a little bit of fresh ocean air, warm summer breezes and sunshine can do for your psyche. All of a sudden work doesn’t seem that bad!
Here are some ideas where you can get outside, enjoy your lunch and watch the world go by:
* Market Square/Inn Street – An obvious choice if you are the ‘people watching’ type. It’s really cool to think that you live/work in a town that people come to on vacation. How lucky are we?! With the addition to the new splash pad on Inn Street you can now dip your toes in the water on those hot days!
* Boardwalk – Nothing more relaxing than listening to the boats rock and the sounds of a busker singing tunes. Grab a bench, watch the boats in the river and relax.
* Joppa Flats/Cashman Park/Maudslay State Park/Moseley Woods/Atkinson Common – We are blessed to have so much open space within a stone’s throw of downtown. Here are five ideas of places where you can escape the office and enjoy nature.
Almost all the restaurants in town offer call ahead/takeout service, so if you forget to pack your lunch – no worries!
