HAVERHILL — Superintendent Maureen Lynch is pleased to announce that registration for Whittier Tech’s second annual golf tournament is now open.

The friendly competition will be held on Aug. 16 at the Bradford Country Club, 201 Chadwick Road, Haverhill.

In addition to a round on the picturesque 18-hole course, the tournament will feature a hole-in-one contest, a golf cannon and putting competition. The $125 single golfer rate and $500 per foursome includes a day of golf, lunch and prizes.

“We had a blast last year,” said Vocational Coordinator Beverly DeSalvo, who organized the tournament. “It was so enjoyable to be with everyone outside of school in such a beautiful setting, especially our alumni. Even better was knowing how much it benefited our students who need that extra bit of help to be successful.”

Those who cannot attend or do not wish to golf are invited to support Whittier students by becoming a Tee Sponsor or Special Event Sponsor. Spectators and guests can also join family and friends for a steak and chicken buffet for $30, and bid on a huge selection of raffle prizes.

Last year, 115 golfers, including Whittier alumni, participated in the inaugural tournament. In total, the event raised $15,000 to benefit Whittier students with college and career scholarships and other needs. All proceeds go to The Whittier Tech Educational Foundation, a nonprofit organization established to provide resources to improve student achievement and learning opportunities.
